“We agree with the need to undertake the necessary electricity transmission works but do not agree that the applicants are including within their application for a DCO the use of land over which no statutory works are taking place i.e. no permanent structures either above ground or below ground will be constructed on the land.

We are of the view that this is an abuse of power as it allows the applicant to occupy any land for any purpose other than for the construction of pylons and cables.

We therefore contend that any parcels of land identified for non-electricity purposes should be excluded from the DCO, if granted.”
