What happens next

16 August 2022 – Deadline for the Examining Authority to submit its recommendation report.

The Examination closed at 11:59 PM on 16 May 2022. There will now be a period of three months for the Examining Authority to write its report and make a recommendation to the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State will then have three months in which to make a decision.

Due to a technical error, Interested Parties were notified that the A57 Link Roads Examination closed early on 16 May 2022. The correct time and date for the close of Examination is 11.59pm on 16 May 2022. This has also been confirmed in the Examining Authority’s Section 99 Letter (PDF, 132 KB) issued on 17 May 2022, which notified Interested Parties and others of the completion of the Examination.

The Rule 13 Notification (PDF,151 KB) issued on 16 December 2021 incorrectly refers to the date of hearings to be held as February 2020 and 2021 (page 1). The correct date is February 2022.

The Letter also incorrectly refers to the date for publication of Agendas and confirmation of whether Compulsory Acquisition Hearing 2 or Open Floor Hearing 2 are required as Monday, 31 January 2021 (page 4). The correct date is Monday, 31 January 2022.

This draft version of the First Written Questions does not include all the questions that will appear in the final version. Some of the questions in this draft version are likely to be changed in the final version.

The final version of the First Written Questions will be published no later than 17 December 2021. Responses are requested to the final version and these should be received by the ExA by Deadline 2 on 14 January 2022.

This application was received by the Planning Inspectorate on 28 June 2021.

The Applicant has requested that all application documents be published as soon as practicable to help everyone become familiar with the detail of what is being proposed in this application. The Planning Inspectorate will therefore make the application documents available as soon as practicable.

This provision is solely for the purpose of allowing more time to all those who wish to become familiar with the detail of what is being proposed ahead of the Relevant Representation period without lengthening the overall time required for the application process. There will be no opportunity at this stage to make comments on the application. If the application is accepted anyone interested in the application will be able to register and express their views during the Relevant Representation stage and the subsequent Examination. Further detail on this process is provided in Advice Note 8.2.
