Enquiry

Please could I check a matter with you? Our team has been considering the Scoping Opinion in detail and have noticed a typo in paragraph ID 3.1.1. The Inspectorate's comments state that "[t]he Inspectorate agrees that significant direct effects are likely and that this matter can be scoped out of the ES…". We anticipate that this should say "significant direct effects are unlikely" because this is the reason for scoping this matter out of the ES. Please can we request that the Scoping Opinion is corrected and reissued to us, to amend the typo and provide clarity? I hope the above is helpful. Please do get in touch if you need any further information.

Advice given

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. The Inspectorate acknowledges a typographical error in ID 3.1.1 of the Grimsby to Walpole Scoping Opinion adopted on 10 September 2024. The Scoping Opinion states that "[t]he Inspectorate agrees that significant direct effects are likely and that this matter can be scoped out of the ES…" (emphasis added). The Inspectorate clarifies that this should state "[t]he Inspectorate agrees that significant direct effects are unlikely and that this matter can be scoped out of the ES…" (emphasis added). As discussed, this will be published on the project webpage as s51 advice to the Applicant.
